Seal mothers feed their babies for 3 weeks before leaving them to fend for themselves.

The pups then fast for another 3 weeks to become mature enough to leave.

CONTACT CAUSES HARM.

It's vital they don't get stressed during this period, stress can (and does) kill them. 

 

Remember, too, that baby seals are beautiful but also dangerous. They bite - people and dogs! 

So please:

 

1. Stay 20 metres away from all seals

2. Keep your dog on a lead (no matter how well behaved) - seals bite dogs, too!

3. Follow the path ONLY (don't wander on the dunes) and

4. Obey the Seal Wardens' instructions
